Furniture Thinking
Questions for in the house
- Length of the lounge room wall (both sides, need to know if we can fit couches on one side and TV on the other): 2.4 TV, 4.2 wall to kitchen bench. 4.5 all the way
- Size of the fridge gap: 75 (173 tall)
- Microwave: 32 high 70 wide 40 deep
- Check out the closet in the hall, looks good
- Is the hot water electric or gas? No gas
Furniture outfit
Dresser: 113.5 x 50
Standing desk: 120 x 70
Bed: 150 x 200 (double mattress, including frame)
Guitar rack: 100 x 60
Wingback chair: 100 x 100
TV cabinet: 150 x 36 (54 tall)
TV: 167 wide
Billy: 80 x 28 (202 tall)
Bedside tables: 40 x 48
Lack side table: 55 x 55
Pink round thing: 45 x 45
Couch: 220 (roughly, the armrests flop around a bit)
Standing desk low position: 79cm
Standing desk upper position: 120cm (approx)
Nanna furniture
Queen bed: 160 x 220
Bookshelf: 83 x 32 (150 tall)
Table: 150 x 105, 5 chairs (75 high)
Fridge: 80 x 73 (168 tall)
Microwave: 51 x 50 (33 tall)
Proposed layout plan
Kitchen: Fridge from 3/22 Lilly St, kettle and toaster from Nanna, the microwave from 3/22 would fit in that gap if I can’t get Julia to give it to me then we’ll take Nanna’s but it won’t fit in the gap
TV wall: Nanna bookshelf + TV (snug fit)
Couch wall: Couch + desk (room for side table and/or maybe cube shelf and/or pink thing)
Bedroom: bed + dresser and mirror + bedside tables + cube shelves lying down alongside the wall where the dresser is?
Spare room: spare bed??? + guitar rack + spare dining chars + billy and/or cube(s) + pink thing?? + wing-back chair??? + black mirror with the deer head
Bed/Dresser analysis
With current bed (mattress + frame): 1.4 sides, 90 cm dresser gap
With Queen bed (mattress + frame): 1.35 sides, 70 cm dresser gap
With King bed (mattress + frame est): 1.15 sides, 70 cm dresser gap
Current thinking: considering the hassle and unknown expense of the queen (no idea whether it’s easy to take apart for transport or not).. I should take my current double bed over there and think about buying a king size in the future. The double can either be a spare bed or sold to siblings/friends for cheap!
Furniture and layout improvements
- Lounge room clock
- Lounge room shelf next to TV for record player or dvd’s
- Lounge room wall mount tv
- Kitchen replace paper towel hanger with a hanging rack/hooks for spices, pots and pans, wipes, papertowel,
- Kitchen shelf on top of microwave to keep it looking tidy and keep space on the bench usable.
- Kitchen sink wall mounted hanging thing for drying stuff, tea towels, gloves, soap
- Frame/shelving around TV (we have to be certain we won’t change the size of the TV in the near future)
- Lounge room/kitchen cat shelves and toys and things
- Lower down shelves for bedroom, next to dresser, display items, storage drawers
