July 4

Talking with Steph, notes on Ben confrontation

  • I don’t really wanna be here having this conversation but I’m seeing hurt feelings happening and I want to talk about it
  • Establish that things aren’t good enough around the home.
  • First try diplomatic angle: what do we need to better support?
  • Bottom line: at age 22 with a good job and girlfriend, one is getting too old to be doing everything purely out of trauma responses.
  • Why we are doing this conversation: people are being hurt. And also it’ll hurt you in the long run to keep doing this. You can’t keep making people feel sorry for you and fixing shit on your behalf.

  • Air filter.90
  • Cabin filter.95

Ty needs to leave. Physical assault and threats, disruptive behaviour.

When David is back?

Options for removing Ty?

Contact rental union.

Follow up about maintenance request. Upstairs kitchen tap and laundry tap only has hot water and not cold. Laundry sink leaking.

Big risks right now

  • The owners find out there are 5 people
  • Rent is fine
  • Ty could damage the house

Options after RTA call

  1. Drop Ty’s shit out on the street
  2. Trick Ty into leaving voluntarily (either leaving the lease or trick them into thinking we are all moving out)

Hey all - just a warning about someone in the community who goes by the name Ty. They live with my brother and sister and we are currently taking steps to remove them from the house due to violence.

  1. A housemate was physically attacked by Ty
  2. The cops have been called to the house to due Ty’s aggressive outbursts and behaviour
  3. Threats are being made daily to the safety of household members

At every stage we’ve taken painful care to deescalate the situation, including trying to support them whilst they deal with what is obviously a severe mental health crisis. Ty has abused and manipulated everyone involved now to the point where seeking their removal is the most reasonable option for everyone’s safety.

This person has a violent history that we’ve only just been learning about, including a prior DVO as well as a grievous bodily harm charge.

If you know this person or see them around please be aware. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it a lot.

Love you all x

  • [-] Passport photos and application by April 4
  • Update debt/receipts/etc in money spreadsheet for end of month
  • [-] Figure out why commbank is charging a late fee for my payments which are going in weekly. Maybe they need to be monthly instead? Answer: I think the interval of weekly payments aren’t lining up with the monthly expectation of the credit card statement. In future I should put money aside in a savings account but then pay the full amount manually before the due date to make sure we don’t get hit for this over and over. This way we are checking that everything is good instead of just blindly putting money into accounts. It would also help to read the fucking credit card statements that are sent out each month.

Message for David property manager regarding Ty:

Morning David,

Just writing to let you know that the police were called to our place tonight regarding an escalating conflict that has been occurring over the last two weeks. In this time, our housemate Ty has become unstable and antagonistic to everyone else in the house. This has included violent attacks and threats to try to destabilise our housing situation.

We are doing the best we can to manage the situation ourselves - however with police being called and neighbours being bothered due to these further escalations - I’d like to discuss any external options we may have to help the situation.

I am happy to provide further details, including the police report from the incident, if required.

This is obviously a stressful situation for everyone involved however I just want to affirm that myself, Steph, and Charlie, are committed to resolving this as peacefully as possible.

Any questions or concerns please let me know.

Regards, Ben
